The Monroe Redhawks moved to 3-0 on the season after their 45-0 defeat of Hunter Huss on Saturday. The game was the fourth and last match-up in the first-ever Union County Power Cooperative Gridiron Clash.
Coming into the game, the Redhawks were averaging 23 tackles for losses against their first two opponents.
Unfortunately for Huss, it would be much of the same. Monroe’s defense suffocated the Huss offense; allowing minus-nine yards and netting 26 tackles for losses.
The Redhawks senior linebacker, Trayquan Price, had two fumble recoveries and junior Miquille Bryant (LB) had three of Monroe’s four sacks in the shutout. The defensive effort was so dominating that Huss was three-and-out six times in the game.
The Redhawks’ senior, Braxton Knotts, did most of the offensive damage against the Huskies scoring three rushing touchdowns and one TD via a punt return.
Next up for Monroe is Weddington (3-0), coming off an impressive win of their own against Charlotte Christian.
