Warriors’ D throttles Spartans offense in win

The Weddington Warriors defeated rival Sun Valley, 49-19, in an impressive conference road win.

The Warriors defense made an early impact that set the tone for the rest of the evening. Defensive back, Richie Laughlin, recovered a fumble at midfield and dashed down the sideline for Weddington’s first score on the night.

As the first quarter came to a close, Weddington had a 14-0 lead. The Warriors defense led by senior linebacker, Joey Hobbs, shut down a Sun Valley offense that was averaging 44 points per game. The Warriors closed the first half scoring three more touchdowns and never looked back.

Hobbs discusses the game including his big catch and run for a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter.
