On March 14, everything changed for students across North Carolina. Schools closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and as a result, the lives of student-athletes put on hold.
Nine days later, another announcement from the state that school- closing would extend until May 14.
Earlier today, April 24, the Governor of North Carolina decided to shut down schools for the remainder of the school year.
Despite the negative news, our student-athletes are finding ways to work on their craft while maintaining respect for the virus responsible for this shutdown.
As we continue to navigate through the month, I'll profile some of those athletes that are being resourceful and optimistic despite the obstacles.
Today, my interview with Sun Valley's rising senior offensive lineman, Michael Gonzalez. The interview was recorded two days ago before Governor Cooper's latest decision.
Gonzalez has received 21 Division I offers and is one of the most highly touted offensive lineman in the Charlotte Metro.
Below, my conversation with the Sun Valley lineman.
Thanks to Chris Summerville for the fantastic photos he took of Michael used in the production of this video interview. Check out his full collection at https://www.summerville-photography.com/
