On March 14, everything changed for students across North Carolina. Schools closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and as a result, the lives of student-athletes put on hold.
Nine days later, another announcement from the state that school- closing would extend until May 14.
Finally, on April 24, the Governor of North Carolina decided to shut down schools for the remainder of the school year.
Despite the negative news, our student-athletes are finding ways to work on their craft while maintaining respect for the virus responsible for this shutdown.
As we continue to navigate through this crisis, I'll profile some of our local athletes that are being resourceful and optimistic despite the obstacles.
Today, my interview is with Marvin Ridge's rising senior linebacker, Tanner Blackwell.
Blackwell was the team's leader in total tackles with 99 (70% of his tackles were solo) and named to the 2019 Union County Football Dream Team.
Below, my conversation with the Marvin Ridge linebacker.
