Porter Ridge defeated Rocky River, 30-16, on Friday night to move to 4-1 in the Southwestern 4A Conference with only two games remaining in the shortened seven-game regular season.
Myles Carroll (5-foot-11, 180-pounds), the junior quarterback, led the Pirates offense completing 6-of-10 passes for 131 yards, including two rushing touchdowns.
O'marion Taylor rushed for 122 yards on 26 carries. Taylor, the 5-foot-10, 200-pounds junior running back, scored one touchdown.
Brandon Perry, the senior defensive back and running back, returned to the starting lineup after being sidelined for two weeks due to an injury. Perry (6-foot-1, 190-pounds), the Wingate Commit, caught a 48-yard pass from Carroll late in the first quarter to set up the Pirates' first touchdown of the night.
Perry also thwarted a potential Rocky River scoring drive with an interception inside the Pirates' 10-yard line and returned it to Rocky River's 25-yard line.
Porter Ridge will take on conference-leading Myers Park (5-0) at home on Thursday night.
